2001 Founded d/dt Arch.

I first became interested in architecture as a high school student when I admired the way Arata Isozaki dared to propose a low-rise building and raise issues in a competition for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

During my graduate school years, I visited the mountainous regions of the Indian Himalayas, Central America (Mexico, Belize, Guatemala), and the Sahara Desert, where I was impressed by the architecture standing in the midst of magnificent nature and the fusion of man-made and natural scenery.

Since then, I have been designing buildings with a focus on how to integrate or confront architecture with the natural and urban environment.

Architectural design is an extremely social activity, and I believe that it has the potential to have a considerable impact not only on the owners and users of buildings, but also on the surrounding environment and, by extension, on society as a whole. We do not remain in mere architectural design, but are actively involved in the direction and management of the entire project, with the hope of contributing to the development of the environment, society, and culture, as well as our clients.

We take requests seriously and propose spaces that draw out new possibilities that lie ahead. We aim to create architecture that will be loved for a long time, and we will carefully handle everything from design to on-site supervision. Please feel free to consult with us.

Works

Suwayama House

A sophisticated residence standing on a hill in Meguro Ward. The façade facing the road is made of exposed concrete with woodgrain shadows, giving it a modern yet warm feel. The white volume of the second floor hangs over it like a canopy, giving the entrance a sense of depth and functionality.
The two-story open-ceiling living room on the top floor features a large square window with a triangular opening behind it, allowing light and breezes to flow in. Equipped with a loft and rooftop terrace, this luxurious home fosters a connection between the family and nature.

Atago Cottage

This mountain lodge overlooks Mount Riyama, one of the symbols of Karuizawa Town. The open-ceiling living room opens onto the lush garden, making it a special place to relax and enjoy the changing of the seasons. The rustic exterior walls made of charred cedar planks continue into the interior, creating a comfortable atmosphere as if you were surrounded by a forest.

The second floor features a library with a panoramic view of the garden and the mountain, as well as a tranquil bedroom and bathroom. Beneath the treehouse-like second floor supported by V-shaped pillars is a parking space to protect your car from the wind and rain.

Okamoto House

A mansion built on a slope along the Sumiyoshi River in Kobe City.
This is an example of an original proposal to demolish the upper half of an existing two-story reinforced concrete house and add a wooden second floor. Earthquake resistance was improved by making the upper part lighter while retaining the robust first floor. In addition, pile construction and waste were reduced, and the environmental impact was also reduced. The open second floor has a spacious connection between the living room and dining kitchen, creating a space where you can fully enjoy the lush riverside scenery.

Mikasa Cottage

Nestled in the mountains of Mikasa, this mountain lodge blends in with the abundant nature. Taking advantage of the sound of the stream running through the site and the view of the opposite bank, five triangular roofs elegantly float in harmony with the ridgeline. The curved exterior walls control the view and create a variety of spaces, including a living room, terrace, and pilotis. The deep interior space created by the offset roof and the comfortable living room centered around a fireplace foster quality time for conversation with family and friends.

ebisu cross

Located close to Yebisu Garden Place, this cooperative housing complex consists of nine units, allowing residents to enjoy both urban convenience and lush greenery. Two types of residences are available: maisonettes and flats. The "cross maisonette" that spans the second and third floors is designed to provide both an open feeling and privacy, with the living room and dining room on the south side and the bedrooms on the north side, on different floors. The bright space is filled with light from the glass staircase leading to the rooftop terrace, allowing for a high-quality life in the city.

Musée Ando à Karuizawa

This museum was established to display the works of Foujita Tsuguharu, which were collected by the Ando couple, in a space that feels like a home. They were involved from the early exhibition planning stages, and have sublimated their philosophy into the architecture. The spatial composition is centered around a lush courtyard, and British handmade bricks are used in a modern way to harmonize with the vast glass openings. Visitors can experience Foujita's works and the nature of Karuizawa as one, touring the exhibition space surrounded by bricks and the salon and observation lounge that are open to the courtyard and surrounding environment.
